Remember I believe an inspiring Leader is like being a tree - you as the leader are the main support. With this and your support they will become strong and vibrant leaves.

In addition a tree needs nutrients to keep it flourishing. These nutrients are varied but need to be provided continuously for the tree to stay strong and grow. For me one of the most important nutrients is communication.

Communication is two-way - you are communicating to your team about what is important every day but in addition, you are also asking them regularly two key questions:

1. What they want more of from you?

2. What they from their work?

The key is to really listen to what they say and then if you can, action it. Some things may be really easy to fix, some not so. If there's something you can't do explain why you can't. That way your team know you have listened and that you care about them.

Communication is the key to the whole team and organisation performing well - you have to lead on it. Make sure you follow the 4 rules of communication -

• Consistent

• Constant

• Clear

• Concise
